James is a kind and dear friend. He was an early subject and was patient as I fumbled with the logistics of a photoshoot. During a break he confided to me the meaning of the pendant which he always wears. James’ portrait expresses the loss of his younger brother a half lifetime ago, a loss that he carries with him to this day.
